Sello: Mute records
2LP COLOR
Mute are currently in the process of reissuing a whole heap of Cabaret Voltaire records. 1974-76 originally came out in 1980, a time when this Sheffield band were making their name as one of the UK’s most fearless post-punk acts. Chronicling their earliest work, these harsh, unforgiving and quixotic pieces are crucial cuts in the development of industrial music. At times the tracks have a kind of strange humour to them - try ‘Do The Snake’ and ‘Doubled Delivery’ - while other moments are eerie and haunted.
